Gömülü Teori (Grounded Theory) Türkçede bilinen bir diğer adıyla “Temellendirilmiş Kuram” teorinin temelini veriye dayandırması sebebiyle bu isimle anılmaktadır. Türkçede “Gömülü Teori” ifadesi veriye gömülü olan teoriyi adeta bir heykeltıraşın kayayı oyup eseri ortaya koyması gibi ortaya çıkarma potansiyeline işaret eder. Bir başka deyişle, araştırmacı araştırmasına belli teorilerle veya hipotezlerle başlamak yerine, doğrudan veriden başlar ve teorilerini ampirik olarak veriye dayandırarak oluşturmaya çalışır. Bu bakımdan yapılan analiz oldukça güçlü bir kuramsallık sunar (Corbin ve Strauss, 2015). Bu bölümde öncelikle Gömülü Teorinin tarihsel arka planı, yaklaşımları ve prensipleri açıklanmış, ardından Gömülü Teoriye dair kuramsal bilgiler örnek bir uygulama ile pekiştirilmiştir. Daha sonra Gömülü Teoriye yöneltilen eleştiriler özetlenerek, bu yaklaşım genel bir çerçevede değerlendirilmiştir.

Grounded Theory, also known as "Grounded Theory" in Turkish, is called by this name because the theory is based on data. In Turkish, the expression "Embedded Theory" indicates the potential to reveal the theory embedded in the data, just like a sculptor carving the rock and revealing the work. In other words, instead of starting his research with certain theories or hypotheses, the researcher starts directly from the data and tries to create his theories empirically based on the data. In this respect, the analysis provides a very strong theoretical basis (Corbin and Strauss, 2015). In this section, firstly, the historical background, approaches and principles of Grounded Theory are explained, and then the theoretical information about Grounded Theory is reinforced with an example application. Then, the criticisms directed towards Grounded Theory were summarized and this approach was evaluated in a general framework.
